Render Repair to city centre building. The Comprehensive Group were called in to undertake external render repair as part of a complete building refurbishment programme to a high level office and retail premises located in Bennett’s Hill in the heart of Birmingham. Render repair works fall within our growing service of concrete and stone refurbishment. The area of concern to the main contractor was the gable end which overlooked the adjacent building. As a direct result of this, accessing the render meant abseil and IRATA trained technicians was the safest and easiest access method. Furthermore, the main contractor was quoted a drastically higher price for scaffold to be erected so this also helped show the benefits of rope access.
Using our rubble catcher (see below video to understand fully!), our rope access technicians undertook the render repair works safely and cost effectively for the client. First up, all the loose and dilapidated render was removed before undercoating all the brickwork with Builders PVA. After successful application, the team then applied a top coat render which was finished to match the existing pattern. Finally, we then undertook two full coats of paint so it was all uniformed, and handed back to client for inspection and sign-off.
All works were undertaken with safety as the number one priority and ensuring no damage or disruption was caused to the roof-top opposite the gable end.
